Configure how and when Orbit notifies you.

Notification Settings

Go to Settings → Notifications to manage your preferences.

Brief Notifications

​

Daily Brief

Get notified when your daily Brief is ready.

• Time — When to receive the notification
• Sound — Enable or disable notification sound

Card Alerts

Choose which cards trigger notifications:

Meeting Notifications

​

Before Meetings

Get reminded before meetings start:

• 15 minutes before — Time to prepare
• 5 minutes before — Time to join
• Custom timing — Set your own

Meeting Prep

Notify when meeting prep is ready:

• For important meetings
• For all meetings
• Never

​

Relationship Alerts

​

Going Cold

Get notified when important relationships need attention:

• Contacts you haven’t talked to in a while
• VIPs going cold
• Missed check-in windows

Toggle this in Settings → Notifications → Relationship Alerts.

Do Not Disturb

Schedule

Set quiet hours when Orbit won’t notify you:

1. Go to Settings → Notifications → Do Not Disturb
2. Toggle Schedule
3. Set start and end times

Focus Mode Integration

Orbit respects macOS Focus modes:

• When Focus is on, notifications are suppressed
• Brief still updates in the background
• Catch up when Focus ends

Notification Types

Banner Style

Choose how notifications appear:

• Banners — Appear briefly, then disappear
• Alerts — Stay until dismissed

Sound

• Toggle notification sounds on/off
• Choose different sounds for different notification types

Managing Notification Overload

If you’re getting too many notifications:

1. Go to Settings → Notifications
2. Turn off low-priority alerts
3. Increase the threshold for relationship alerts
4. Use Do Not Disturb during focus time

System Permissions

Orbit needs notification permission from macOS:

1. Go to System Settings → Notifications
2. Find Orbit
3. Enable Allow Notifications
